Last week, The New York Times shined its spotlight on Contegix as one of the key players in downtown St. Louis to be creating a regional hub for computer software and data-center companies. We’re excited that our world-class data center is earning ink while it earns its keep for all of our managed hosting clients. Our facilities, in what’s known as the Bandwidth Exchange building, span 27,000 square feet and include top-notch security and redundancy in all critical systems.

In this historical building, we’ve added more than cloud infrastructure – we’ve also added personality. Lots of it, in fact. On site you’ll find our expert team – composed exclusively of level-3 engineers who are on-site 24/7 staffing the Network Operations Center, which allows us to monitor the network for performance issues and proactively troubleshoot any potential issues.

Contegix recently added 4,000 square feet of space to the 20,000 square feet it occupies at Digital’s 900 Walnut Street, a century-old building that … was built to house printing presses.

The new space is being used as additional room for the company’s 41 employees. “We’re projecting that we will grow by 65 percent in 2011,” said Matthew Porter, the chief executive.

“I always find this building very poetic,” he said. “One hundred years ago, it housed heavy machinery designed to distribute knowledge and information. Today, in a totally different form, it’s doing the same thing.”

Our location at 900 Walnut Street claimed its fame as the center of downtown St. Louis activity for decades before dark fiber found its home here. We’re excited that it is again the center of the region’s activity – with just a different and more digital-focused activity now.
